While he missed out on the KUMHO TCR World Tour title at Macau, Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Yann Ehrlacher finished the end of the season with a different accolade, as the Frenchman has again risen to the top of the KUMHO TCR World Ranking after his results last weekend.
Ehrlacher displaces Rob Huff, who topped the ranking for one week after the penultimate round at Bathurst, but Huff’s Race 2 trouble means he slips to third this week, behind Norbert Michelisz.
With the majority of the KUMHO TCR World Tour competitors not likely to be in action again until the TCR World Ranking Final in March, this means the order is pretty much set for the next few months, with Ehrlacher going into the winter break as the top ranked driver in the world.
It was also the final round of the 2023 TCR China series at Macau, and there were some big moves from drivers in that championship. Jack Young, who failed to finish both races, drops just three places to 20th in the order this week. Meanwhile, the new TCR China champion Martin Cao climbed 22 places to 56th in the ranking this week, while his Hyundai team-mate Andy Yan also moved up the order to 65th, up 24 positions.
Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing’s Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang is now 71st, gaining 33 positions, meaning four of the TCR China series drivers now feature in the top 100.
