Former TCR Europe and TCR Italy champion Franco Girolami will race in the TCR class of the 2026 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with Victor González Racing Team.
The Puerto Rico-based outfit is currently running two cars in the series; those were two Hyundai Elantra cars until the latest round at Virginia International Raceway where Tyler Gonzalez and Eric Powell switched to a CUPRA Leon VZ with which they claimed pole position and led the race for 40 minutes before being eliminated in an incident.
It has been confirmed that Girolami will be at the wheel of a CUPRA.
“I’m really pleased we have managed to finalize this deal,” said the Argentine. “I’m very grateful to Victor González and together we will be aiming to win the first championship for CUPRA in North America. A new challenge begins in my sporting career.”
