Thed Björk was declared the winner of the opening race of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour at Mexico City after his Lynk & Co Cyan Racing teammate Yann Ehrlacher was handed a penalty.
The Frenchman was judged guilty of trespassing the track limits for overtaking Santiago Urrutia in lap 13 during their battle for the lead.
This resulted in a ten-second time penalty that dropped Ehrlacher to third behind Björk and Urrutia, which also changed the top positions in the standings, with Björk the new leader, three points clear of Esteban Guerrieri and Ehrlacher in third position, three further points adrift.
