The SCCC season begins at the Victoria Day Speedfest

17 May 2024

The 2024 SCCC - Sports Car Championship Canada - starts this weekend at Bowmanville's Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in the Victoria Day Speefest, with TCR cars racing against GT4 and TCA machineries.

After last season, when three races were held at each event, the series reverts to the more traditional format of two sprint races, with the grids determined by the Qualifying times: the fastest laps for Race 1 and the second fastest for Race 2.

Dean Baker, who won the title last year, returns at the wheel of his Audi RS 3 LMS run by his own team. Other competitors who will be racing in the German cars are the 2023 runner-up Richard Boake for Blanchet Motorsport, Ron Tomlinson who is joined at TWOth Autosport by his daughter Megan who raced in the TCA class last year, and Anthony Martella who at the age of 15 is set to become the youngest driver to ever compete in the SCCC.

M&S Racing enters two new Honda Civic Type R FL5 for veteran racer Gary Kwok and for Jonathan Young who also steps up from the TCA class.

The TCR field is completed by the pair of Hyundai Racing Canada formed by brothers Quinn and Connor Attrell who will be driving one Elantra and one i30 N respectively.
