TCR Eastern Europe's season kicks off this weekend in Austria, at the Red Bull Ring, where competitors will begin fighting for the crown that was won by Mat'o Homola in 2023 and 2024.
The reigning champion will not defend the title, which makes last year's runner-up Adam Kout as the favourite for the Drivers' championship, with the Czech racing again a Janík Motorsport Hyundai Elantra N. His strongest competitor appears to be Bartosz Groszek, as the Polish driver who won the championship in 2022 returns with Aditis Racing at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS.
Other serious contenders are Kout's and Groszek's young teammates Jiři Zbožínek and Martin Kadlečík, the experienced Italian Giacomo Ghermandi in a MM Motorsport-run Honda Civic FL5 and series veteran Petr Čížek with the CUPRA Leon Competiciòn entered by the Expres Auto Racing team.
To add spice to the event, Viktor Andersson comes from Sweden for a one-off appearance in his MA:GP Lynk & Co 03, in preparation for his campaign in the TCR Europe series.
