The FIA WTCR is back in action at the Hungaroring

09 June 2022

The second event of WTCR was scheduled to happen at the Nürburgring two weeks ago, but after the Qualifying in which Mehdi Bennani (Comtoyou Racing, Audi RS 3 LMS II) had set the pole position, both races were cancelled due to safety concerns.

The series resumes at the Hungaroring with Nélson Girolami (Münnich Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R) on top of the standings with 49 points, thanks to the pole position and Race 1 win in Pau. Azcona (BRC Squadra Corse, Hyundai Elantra N), the winner of the second race in France, follows the Argentine with a gap of six points, while Girolami's teammate Esteban Guerrieri is just one further point behind, in third position.

Focus on the Hungarian weekend will shift to the local heroes: BRC Squadra Corse's Norbert Michelisz and Attila Tassi (Engstler Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R) who are both eager to make up from a disappointing weekend in Pau, but also on Dániel Nagy who drives a CUPRA Leon Competición for Zengő Motorsport.
