Technical infringement switches gold from Butti to Montenegro

Technical infringement switches gold from Butti to Montenegro

27 October 2024

Marco Butti was stripped of his gold medal in the FIA Motorsport Games Touring Car Cup at Valencia after a technical infringement emerged in the post-race scrutineering, which resulted in the Italian driver being excluded.

The infringement was the same that cost the exclusion to Santiago Urrutia in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour second race at El Pinar earlier this year: the manual activation of the Anti-Lag System when then engine is running, in breach of TCR Technical Regulations.

Butti’s exclusion meant that the gold medal went to Ignacio Montenegro for Argentina, while Brazil’s Raphael Reis and Czechia’s Adam Kout were promoted to silver and bronze.

Valencia – Final Race

  1. Ignacio Montenegro (Argentina, Honda Civic Type R FL5), 6.273
  2. Raphael Reis (Brazil, CUPRA Leon VZ), 24.635
  3. Adam Kout (Czechia, Hyundai Elantra N), 25.158
