Following the opening round of the 2023 24H Series in Dubai, there were a number of interesting moves in the midfield of the TCR World Ranking.
The highest climber was Miklas Born, returning to TCR competition for the first time since last year’s race in Dubai. After sharing the race-winning AC Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS with Yannick Mettler, Stéphane Perrin, and Sam Dejonghe, Born climbed 93 spots to share joint-545th place with Dejonghe. Dejonghe himself is the highest new entry this week, with the Belgian returning to TCR competition for the first time since he drove in the 2017 TCR Benelux championship.
Mettler climbed 46 spots and is now 363rd, while the top ranked driver in the winning car is Perrin, who goes up 17 places and is now 220th overall.
The second-highest climber this week is German driver Peter Posavac, who like Born, was returning to TCR competition after a year away, and so was starting from zero points.
The highest-ranked driver in action at the weekend was Rob Huff, who shared the Dubai runner-up Wolf-Power Racing Audi with Posavac and Marlon and Marcus Menden – but Huff remains 17th as the points he scored in Dubai are the same as the 20th oldest result he dropped, with a driver’s last 20 results only counting towards any driver’s ranking.
