Steve and Sam Laidlaw to race CUPRA VZ cars for Area Motorsport

Steve and Sam Laidlaw join forces at Area Motorsport, ahead of the TCR UK season finale at Silverstone, with 2025 in mind.

Father and son have joined the championship during the season and for the first time they will compete for the same team, driving brand-new CUPRA Leon VZ cars, as the model makes its championship debut this weekend.

Steve, who joined the championship back at Snetterton in May, has raced in a Hyundai i30 N and then in a CUPRA Leon Competición with which he claimed his first race win at Thruxton. Sam made his debut at Croft in the Capture Motorsport-run Hyundai i30 N previously driven by his father.

“Having joined the championship earlier this year, both Sam and I agreed that we wanted to be a part of TCR UK for the long term, so we’ve made our commitment to the championship by purchasing two brand-new CUPRA Leon VZ cars,” explained Steve. “Our aim is simple, to come out next season and take as many podiums as possible en route to winning the championship.”
