Petr Semerád, TCR Eastern Europe runner-up in the 2022 season, is making his return to the championship this weekend at the Salzburgring, behind the wheel of a CUPRA Leon Competición run by Expres Auto Racing.
“I want to enjoy the weekend and relive some memories from the 2022 season, when I fought for the title with Bartosz Groszek,” said Semerád. “I haven’t done any testing, and I’ll be getting into the car for the first time this weekend, so I don’t expect to be battling with the likes of Groszek or Adam Kout, but I’m definitely looking forward to discovering a new circuit I’ve never raced on.”
To prepare for his Salzburgring debut, Semerád has trained on simulator, while his teammate Petr Čížek has experience at the Austrian track, where he finished fourth and fifth in last year’s races.
Kout (Janík Motorsport, Hyundai Elantra N) is the leader of the standings thanks to a victory and a second place in the season opener. Seventeen points behind him are the winner of the Red Bull Ring's second race Giacomo Ghermandi (MM Motorsport, Honda Civic FL5) and the 2022 champion Groszek (Aditis Racing, Audi RS 3 LMS), while one further point adrift lies Kout's teammate Martin Kadlečík.
