Sam Laidlaw will join his father Steve on the TCR UK grid from the next event at Croft on the upcoming weekend. The 22-year-old driver will race the Capture Motorsport-run Hyundai i30 N that Steve has driven at Snetterton and Oulton Park previously.
This is the first time that a father and son duo have been on the same grid at a TCR UK event.
Sam Laidlaw has previously driven in this year's Audi TT Cup. “When the chance came to drive a TCR car, I couldn’t turn it down. I’ve kept my eye on TCR UK this year and I’m really excited to get involved in the championship,” he explained.
Steve Laidlaw has made the move to Area Motorsport to drive the team’s CUPRA Leon Competición.
“Area Motorsport are a known force in TCR UK, with their success in the championship very clear. To be able to drive for Rob Baker in one of the newer generation CUPRA Leon models is a great chance for me to progress further up the grid,” Steve said.
