Julio Rejón together and his father Gerardo drove their #1 ProRally Mothers CUPRA Leon VZ to victory in the 4-hour race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, 8th round of the TCR México championship.
It was not an easy victory as the winners retook the lead from the #33 Orea Racing Hyundai Elantra N of Andrès Orea and Jerónimo Guzmán only in lap 116, less than twenty minutes before the end.
There was a close battle for the first positions during the first three hours of the race that also involved the second ProRally Mothers CUPRA #55 that Rodrigo Rejón shared with junior brother Gerardo jr., the #44 Orangino Racing Team Hyundai Elantra of César Tiberio Jiménez, the #88 Centur Silen Racing CUPRA driven by Pablo and Luis Cervantes together with Juan Pablo Sierra and the #98 Luma Motorsport CUPRA of Luis Manuel and Carlos Manuel García.
One hour before the end, the Luma Motorsport dropped out of contention with a technical issue, while Andrès Orea and Julio Rejón delivered the ultimate fight for the victory.
Despite a late full course yellow period, Rejón held on to the lead and crossed the finishing line 8.7 seconds ahead of Orea, while the Centur Silen Racing team completed the podium.
