Phillip Island hosts TCR Australia’s second event

06 June 2019

Following a successful season opener at Sydney, the TCR Australia championship visits Phillip Island for the second event of its inaugural season.
A visit that began in style with five of the racing cars crossing the San Remo bridge, dubbed the ‘Gateway to Phillip Island’ and the only way vehicles can drive from the mainland to the island.
Leading the field was Garth Tander's brand-new Audi RS 3 LMS, as well as Tony D’Alberto’s Honda Civic, Chris Pither’s Renault Mégane, Dylan O’Keeffe’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Chelsea Angelo’s Holden Astra.
Looking at the championship, Will Brown defends his leadership in the standings after he won two of the three first races in his Hyundai i30 N car; Brown has a margin of 12 points over Dylan O' Keeffe and his impressive Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce. Honda driver Tony D'Alberto lies third in the classification, a further 9 points adrift, while Jason Bright, the series' first ever race winner is placed fourth in his Volkswagen Golf GTI, 4 points behind D'Alberto.
For this second event the championship welcomes former Supercars champion and three-time Bathurst 1000 winner Garth Tander who will be driving an Audi RS 3 LMS for the Melbourne Performance Centre.
