Pellegrini defends the leadership in TCR Italy at Misano

30 July 2020

The TCR Italy championship resumes for rounds 3 and 4 at Misano, with Marco Pellegrini (Target Competition, Hyundai i30 N) on top of the standings, thanks to a couple of podium results in the season opener at Mugello.
Joint, thirteen points behind him, are the reigning champion Salvatore Tavano (Scuderia del Girasole, CUPRA Leon Competición) and Damiano Reduzzi (Team Trico WRT, Hyundai i30 N) who took one victory apiece at Mugello but did not score in the other race.
The most determined driver in the field is probably Felice Jelmini (PMA Motorsport, Hyundai i30 N) who completed two outstanding recoveries at Mugello, from 23rd on the grid to third in Race 1 and first in Race 2, setting two fastest laps in the process; but he was stripped of the win by a penalty for a racing incident.
Two other serious contenders are Eric Brigliadori (BF Motorsport, Audi RS 3 LMS) who started from the pole at Mugello and Argentina's Franco Girolami (MM Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R) who finished second in Race 2.
Eric Scalvini (CUPRA DSG), Daniele Cappellari (Volkswagen Golf GTI) and Nello Nataloni (Opel Astra) will join the field for the first time this year.
The two races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv: Race 1 (Saturday 16:10 local time / CEST); Race 2 (Sunday 11:50 local time / CEST).
