Pepe Oriola is set to make his global touring car return at the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour season finale. He will compete in a dual role as team manager and race driver for GOAT Racing, piloting a third Honda Civic FL5 alongside teammates Esteban Guerrieri and Ignacio Montenegro.
This outing marks Oriola’s first TCR race since the end of the 2023 TCR Europe season, and his first time back on the world stage since the 2018 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup finale, which was also held at Macau with Campos Racing.
With the team now out of the fight for both the drivers’ and teams’ titles, GOAT Racing's goal for the weekend is overall success at Macau. They are the reigning Macau Guia Race champions, having achieved a dominant 1-2-3 podium lockout last year thanks to a strategic call from Oriola, who correctly gambled on the tyre choice during a challenging wet-to-dry race around the Guia circuit.
“To be back in Macau after almost three years without competing in an international championship is such a challenge, but also special as my last race in WTCR was there. It will be an extremely challenging weekend as I will still be on my duty as team manager, and my main focus will be in the team manager side,” Oriola said.
