The Orea Ross Racing Hyundai Elantra N won the 500Km race at Puebla-Amozoc, scoring the fourth victory out of five rounds of the TCR México Endurance series.
Andrès Orea and Jerónimo Guzmán shared the wheel, completing 171 laps in five hours and 17 minutes during a race that was constantly plagued by pouring rain. They took the lead at the end of the fourth hours from the ProRally Mothers CUPRA Leon VZ driven by Gerardo Rejón and his three sons, Gerardo jr., Julio and Rodrigo.
After the CUPRA had lost two laps in the pits, Gerardo jr. was pushing to close the gap during the final hour, with Guzmán who was trying to keep the pace without demanding too much from his car.
The final part of the race was thrilling. With 13 laps to go the Centur Racing CUPRA Leon VZ of Luis Cervantes, that had been fastest in qualifying and had led the field in the early stages, retired from third with a technical issue. Three laps later, the leading Hyundai slowed and stalled, but Guzmán was able to restart the engine, still running one lap ahead of the charging CUPRA.
And this is the way they finished, with the Zesati Racing Audi completing the podium seven laps behind.
