Oliver Taylor switches cars for the rest of the season

30 May 2018

Oliver Taylor is switching from the Honda Civic FK2 to the new Civic Type-R FK7 from Brands Hatch onwards for the remainder of the TCR UK season. The decision was taken after a back-to-back test with both cars following the previous race meeting at Knockhill.
Taylor is currently in third place in the Drivers’ championship standings after finishing on the podium in each of the series’ first three races. That impressive record ended with Race 2 at Knockhill, when Taylor ended up in the gravel with broken steering after contact with the Volkswagen Golf GTI of Jessica Bäckman.
Taylor’s consistency has also helped Pyro Motorsport to lie in second place in the Teams’ championship after four races. His decision to switch to the 2018-spec Honda means the team will now be running two identical cars, with Taylor’s teammate Finlay Crocker having started the season in the newer Civic.

Taylor said: “The decision to switch was actually fairly straightforward. The newer car is so much easier to drive and it really suits my driving style. I think JAS has done a great job with the FK7 and I really think I can get a good result at Brands Hatch this weekend. You have to remember - nobody develops a new car that’s the same as the previous model!”
