Norbert Michelisz has moved to the top of the Kumho TCR World Ranking following the latest calculation of the weekly global driver rankings.
His move comes thanks both to his strong performances so far this year in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour and also because previous ranking leader Rob Huff has begun to start dropping points after more than ten months out of TCR competition.
Huff drops to third place, behind Yann Ehrlacher in the ranking. Huff’s 2023 team-mate Frédéric Vervisch has similarly started to slip down the classification and has fallen to eighth position.
Further down the order, following the TCR China event at Zhejiang at the weekend, China’s top racers are closing on the top ten fast, with last year’s champion Martin Cao Hong Wei up one spot to 15th, but climbing a massive 14 positions thanks to his double victory at the weekend is Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang, who is just one spot behind his title rival in the order in 16th.
There’s been a change to methodology of the ranking applied from this week, with dropped scores from non-competition now increased to one per week after 30 weeks of non-competition. This means that a number of drivers who’ve been out of competition for some time start to drop more points than before.
