Nelson Piquet jr’s victory in the final round of the TCR South America series at Interlagos has propelled the former Formula 1 driver into the top 50 of the Kumho TCR World Ranking, after he climbed seven places to 42nd this week.
The Honda YPF Racing star was not the only driver to break into the top 50, as Raphael Reis, after a podium finish in the final round, also moved back into the top half century of drivers, up four places to 47th position.
Piquet’s Honda teammate Tiago Pernía’s DNF in Race 1 was countered with a drive from last to fourth in the second race, and that helped the Argentine driver close in on the top 100, with a 14-place climb to 106th.
Other big movers just outside of the top 100 included Genaro Rasetto, who moved up 24 places to 142nd, and Enzo Gianfratti, who was the biggest mover of the week, up 45 places to 145th.
The new champion Leonel Pernía ends the year and the final ranking calculation of 2025 as the best-placed driver from the series in 15th, despite a one place drop after his results from the weekend.
