The latest TCR series champion Ignacio Montenegro made great progress in this week’s Kumho TCR World Ranking, with the newly-crowned TCR Spain champion climbing six places to 13th overall, just behind joint 11th-placed drivers Adam Kout and Montenegro’s Argentine countryman Franco Girolami.
A podium for Teddy Clairet in the TCR Spain finale saw the French driver make a 67-place leap and is now 181st in the ranking, even though he only has four qualifying results from both the Spanish and Italian TCR series’ final rounds – scoring highly in two hotly contested races with capacity grids.
A podium for Felipe Fernández also saw the Spaniard make an eight-place leap to 36th in the ranking, while TCR rookie Eric Gené made his way up to 68th, up 25 spots after his performance at Barcelona.
