Mat’o Homola is now on the verge of the top ten in the Kumho TCR World Ranking after securing victory and a podium at the opening round of the TCR Eastern Europe series at the new Balaton Park circuit in Hungary.
The Slovakian driver has moved up three places to 11th, passing last year’s TCR Europe champion Tom Coronel and TCR Italy title winner Franco Girolami, and is now within three points of TCR South America frontrunner Bernardo Llaver.
There were key moves after the TCR Denmark season opener at Padborg Park as well, with Race 2 winner Kasper H. Jensen moving up one spot to 16th, while Mike Halder leapt up four spots to 24th in the ranking and is now just behind TCR South America champion Ignacio Montenegro.
After the opening round of the new TCR European Endurance series, race winner Turgut Konukoǧlu has now moved up to 120th in the ranking, while his Turkish compatriot Seda Kaçan, a podium finisher in the new series, was also one of this week’s highest climbers, moving up 84 positions.
Another driver to climb 84 spots was TCR Eastern Europe Race 2 winner Attila Bucsi. The Hungarian is already 275th of the 1,000+ ranked drivers after only his second ever TCR race meeting.
