16 July 2025

TCR South America points leader Leonel Pernía is on the verge of putting three Argentine drivers in the top ten of the Kumho TCR World Ranking following his victory in the opening race of the weekend at Mercedes, in Uruguay.

The Honda YPF Racing driver has moved up two places in this week’s classification, and is now just behind countryman Ignacio Montenegro, the 2023 TCR South America champion.

A strong weekend in Canada for Denis Dupont who, along with co-driver Preston Brown, was the best-placed Hyundai driver in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park saw him move up to 60th position.

The Montreal-based Belgian driver is now just one place behind his Bryan Herta Autosport teammate Harry Gottsacker in the ranking; they are the best placed competitors from the series in the global ranking.
