Ladygin wins from Bragin in Kazan’s Race 2

22 July 2018

LADA Sport Rosneft’s Kirill Ladyigin took his second victory of the season in the TCR Russia’s Race 2 at Kazan Ring. Dmitry Bragin finished a close second and retained the leadership in the standings, though with a reduced margin.
At the start, Anton Badoev used well his pole position and took the lead at the wheel of his Cupra from Ladygin, Irek Minnakhmetov and Bragin.
Race 1 winner Aleksey Dudukalo and Ladygin’s teammate Mikhail Grachev collided at Turn 1 and rejoined at the back of the field.
During the first lap Bragin overtook Minnakhmetov for third and soon afterwards the latter stopped on the track with a technical issue.
On lap 4, Ladygin took the lead from Badoev who was also passed by Bragin. For the rest of the race, Bragin tried to get close enough to the leader to attempt an overtaking move, but Ladygin was able to maintain a cushion of a little more than one second to prevent an attack.
Ladygin, Bragin and Badoev finished in the order, with Andrej Maslennikov taking fourth from Roman Golikov in the final lap.
The victory meant that Ladygin reduced his gap from Bragin in the standings to eight points; Vladimir Sheshenin lies third, 29 points off the leader and four over Ivan Lukashevich.
TCR Russia will resume at Moscow Raceway on 11/12 August.
