At Jyllandsringen, Kasper H. Jensen successfully defended his title in TCR Denmark, after a string of podium results were enough to keep him ahead of his main rival Mike Halder despite a valiant charge from the German on the season finale.
Race 1 – Halder had qualified his TPR Motorsport Honda Civic on pole and started ahead of Jensen’s GMB Motorsport Honda, with Nicolai Sylvest’s Green Development CUPRA third, the last driver in contention for the title. The race was very much a procession, with Halder holding on to the lead from lights out just ahead of Jensen; they comfortably pulled away from the rest of the pack, while Sylvest finished third.
Race 2 – Michael Markussen started from the pole of the reversed grid in his privateer CUPRA but was immediately passed by Anton Bergström. However, both Markussen and Bergström had jumped the start and were ordered to take a penalty lap. After a safety car period caused by Christian Skaar’s spun, Bergström served his penalty, while Markussen stayed out for another lap which gave him enough time to build a gap and rejoin ahead of the charging rivals of Halder and Jensen. Markussen held on ahead of the pair to claim his second career win, and his first this season.
Race 3 – Halder started from pole position ahead of Jensen and managed to keep the lead despite Jensen making a lunge at the start. The two traded fastest laps in the early stages, but Jensen knew that second place would be more than enough to secure him the championship and settled in behind him. The Dane made one move at Turn 1 just before half distance when Halder made a small mistake, but Halder was able to hold on and claimed his seventh win of the season, matching Jensen’s tally.
Jensen however would be crowned the TCR Denmark champion for the third consecutive year.
