The penultimate event of the Coppa Italia Turismo at Mugello saw Koray Kamiloğlu and Denis Babuin sharing race victories in their Audi cars. The points leader Raffaele Gurrieri was involved in an incident with Babuin in Race 1, then finished third in Race 2 and stretched his lead in the standings to 22 points over Adriano Visdomini who has moved ahead of Ramazan Kaya who did not finish Race 2.
In the second division for DSG cars, Giacomo Orioli won both races and staked a claim on the title.
Gurrieri led Race 1 from the pole, with Babuin following him closely. In lap 6, the safety car was deployed to recover Samuele Piccin’s Honda Civic FK2 from the gravel of T1. At the restart, Gurrieri and Babuini came together into T1 and spun, while Kamiloğlu jumped into the lead and went on to claim his first win of the season. Giuseppe Bodega and Kaya completed the overall podium, while Orioli won the Division 2 ahead of Daniele Verrocchio.
Babuin was on pole for Race 2 and sprinted at the start leading from Fulvio Ferri and Gurrieri who overtook Kamiloğlu for third. The Turkish driver then lost another place to his countryman Kaya before the latter made a mistake and dropped to fifth. Babuin pulled away, benefiting from the battle for the second place between Ferri, Gurrieri and Kamiloğlu. Further behind, Kaya defended P5 from Visdomini until they made contact in lap 8, which resulted in Kaya’s Audi stranded on the gravel and the safety car deployed. Racing resumed with two minutes to go, with Babuin keeping Ferri at bay; Gurrieri finished third, while Kamiloğlu slowed and lost P4 that was inherited by Orioli who was victorious in the second division once again from Roberto Verrocchio.
