After a packed weekend of races, there were significant moves in the Kumho TCR World Ranking this week thanks to a number of eventful races around the world, most notably with the opening weekends of TCR Europe, TCR China and TCR Asia championships at Portimão and Shanghai.

Former champion Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang’s pair of third place finishes at the TCR China season opener has helped moved him up to seventh in the ranking, one place ahead of former rival Martin Cao, while last year’s TCR Eastern Europe series champion Mat’o Homola, who is now out of full-time TCR competition, has started to drop scores and has fallen to ninth in this week’s ranking.

TCR China’s double race winner Zhang Zhen Dong enjoyed a nine-place climb in the ranking this week, moving up nine spots to 33rd overall.

The most movement across the ranking came after the TCR Europe opening event. Jenson Brickley, who won the second race, has catapulted up 12 positions and is up to 19th in the ranking this week, the best-placed of the current TCR Europe drivers. While Jimmy Clairet, who won Race 1, but has only ten countable results of the 20 minimum, enjoyed a 61-place leap to 139th in the ranking.
