The TCR South America races at Curvelo were important mainly for three of the drivers of the leading Honda YPF Racing Squadra Martino team in the Kumho TCR World Ranking update this week.
A strong weekend for runaway points leader Leonel Pernía sees him move up two places to 13th. His teammates also had reasons to celebrate, with Nelson Piquet jr, in his first full season of TCR competition, now launching into the top 100 with a 20-place climb, courtesy of his second place in Race 1.
It was first-time winner Tiago Pernía who was the star mover of the weekend however, after his valiant battle with Piquet saw him come out on top and earn him a victory that has propelled him up 28 places in the ranking to 125th, with just 16 of the 20 countable results to his tally.
The ranking will take a break next week but will be back on 3rd September.
