Honda Motor de Argentina has presented the team for the 2025 TCR South America and TCR Brasil championships, with five Civic Type R cars run by Squadra Martino under the banner Honda YPF Racing.
The team’s line-up is formed by four Argentines and one Brazilian: Leonel, Mariano and Tiago Pernía, Adrián Chiriano and Nelson Piquet jr.
Leonel Pernía, one of most successful Argentine drivers with four titles won in the popular TC2000 series, debuted last year in TCR South America claiming two race wins on his way to finish sixth in the standings with a PMO Racing Peugeot 308.
His son Tiago, 2022 champion in the Fórmula Nacional 2.0, made a one-off appearance last year at Termas de Río Hondo, driving a Squadra Martino Honda Civic, just like Nelsinho Piquet, the son of legendary F1 world champion Nelson and former F1 driver himself, who finished second at Interlagos.
New to TCR competition are the 47-year-old Mariano Pernía, Leonel’s younger brother, and Chiriano, three-time champion in the Top Race series.
“We are very excited and are confident in the talent and dedication of the team and our drivers. Honda Racing is committed in its passion for motorsport, and we are sure that we are going to achieve great results during the season,” said Víctor Pruvost of Honda Motor Argentina.
