Homola and Bucsi continue to share wins in TCR Eastern Europe

09 June 2024

Mat’o Homola and Attila Bucsi continue in their fight for the TCR Eastern Europe title, and they shared race wins once again at the Slovakiaring. Like in the two previous race meetings of the season at Balaton Park and Red Bull Ring, Homola won Race 1 and Bucsi struck back to win Race 2.

With a strong showing on his home racetrack – pole position, one win and one second – Homola keeps on leading the standings, six points clear of his Hungarian rival, while Adam Kout lies in third position, 38 points behind his teammate.

Race 1 – Homola was on pole and led at the start from Kout, Bucsi and René Kircher, while Martin Kadlečík stalled the engine and dropped at the back. Homola was able to build a gap ahead of the pair of Kout and Bucsi. The top three positions did not change until the final five minutes, when a puncture stopped Kout. This promoted Bucsi to second place, with Jiří Zbožínek claiming his maiden podium result.

Race 2 – Radim Adámek on pole and Davit Kajaia shared the front row, with the Georgian driver making a shooting start and leading. By the end of lap 1, Bucsi, Homola and Kout had elbowed their way from the mid of the grid to second, third and fourth. From lap 3, Kajaia began to defend his lead from the trio behind. In lap 5, Bucsi overtook Kajaia and ran away. For the rest of the race, Kajaya stubbornly held on to second position rejecting all the attacks from Homola. However, he was then handed a ten-second penalty for jump-start and dropped to fifth behind Kadlečík. During the last lap, Kircher and Zbožínek crashed while fighting for P6.

TCR Eastern Europe will resume on August 2/4 in Most.
