Hevey and Kwok share race wins at Calabogie

03 June 2019

The Calabogie Motorsports Park saw fierce competition, rain and mechanical failures as the Canadian TCC featured its second event of the season.
On Saturday, Matthew Taskinen led the race in front of Parker Thompson’s Audi R8 LMS GT4 until he made a mistake that cost him the race.
“I just made a silly mistake and drove off the corner 17; while I was getting back on track, I did something wrong and ended up breaking a drive shaft later on,” said Taskinen who had won both races in the season opener.
This misfortune ended up benefiting his teammate Jean-Francois Hevey who finished first in TCR class.
“He’s my teammate, so he got bad luck. He went out off the track so that gave me the chance to be first. Bad for him, good for me!” Hevey said.
On Sunday, teams and drivers finally got a break with good weather after rain poured heavily before they got on the track. The leading drivers provided very close competition.
Travis Hill led the field until he was first passed by Gary Kwok and then by Taskinen and Bob Attrell. During the final laps, Kwok managed to keep Taskinen at bay and the latter lost second position to Attrell.
These results meant that Kwok and Hill are now topping the standings on equal points, with Hevey in third place.
The next CTCC event will be a Shannonville Motorsport Park on June 29/30.
