Gené and Brickley in TCR Europe with Monlau Motorsport

25 March 2025

Monlau Motorsport that won the 2024 TCR Europe’s drivers’ championship will be back this year with an all-new driver line-up formed by Eric Gené and Jenson Brickley in two CUPRA Leon VZ cars.

Gené, 18, son of famous touring car ace Jordi and development driver for CUPRA Racing, joins the TCR Europe series full-time after making his debut at Spa-Francorchamps in a one-off appearance last year. The 20-year-old Brickley made his TCR category debut just two years ago, battling for the TCR UK title in a CUPRA Leon Competición, before switching to TCR Spain last year, when he led the standings for much of the season.

"It's the best package that I can have,” explained Gené. “Monlau and CUPRA did an incredible job last year, and we have also started the season in a very good way with a victory in TCR Spain. I think we can have the same progress in TCR Europe. Most of the circuits will be new for me, so it will be an enormous challenge, but I'll be working hard to make sure we have good results.”

“It's a big change for me, as last year I was racing by myself,” said Brickley. “It's like taking a step back and focussing on just the racing. From what we have already seen, we've got good pace, the team is strong, so it should be a great year. The goal is the overall title. I can't see why we can't be at least the top three in the championship, and if you're up there, you've got to go for the top prize.”
