Former WRC star tests Audi RS 3 LMS TCR

Former Subaru World Rally Team driver Chris Atkinson has sampled TCR for the first time after completing a handful of laps in Liam McAdam’s Audi RS 3 LMS at Queensland Raceway.

“We wanted to test a TCR car to see how it compared to the road cars,” Atkinson explained. “I was pretty happy with my pace straight away, but it’d be good to explore it a bit more. It nearly did the same time as I’d done in a GT3 RS with a lot less power, so it shows how much performance these TCR cars have. It was impressive.”

Atkinson hinted he’s like to contest a round of TCR Australia Series: “It’s definitely something on my radar if a good opportunity comes up. I think the TCRs are the sort of cars that would be great fun racing as well. Super close competition, door-to-door racing would be really cool in them, and you see that in the racing as well."
