First win of the season for Elgaard in Copenhagen’s Race 2

First win of the season for Elgaard in Copenhagen’s Race 2

08 August 2021

Casper Elgaard scored his first victory of the season in TCR Denmark’s Race 2 at Copenhagen, that finished behind the safety car.
Jan Magnussen and Jacob Mathiassen didn’t make the grid as their cars couldn’t be fixed after the incidents in yesterday’s Race 1.
At the start, Allen Kristensen got away clearly from the pole position on the reversed grid and took the lead, while his teammate René Povlsen was passed by Kenn Bach and Elgaard. During the first lap, Elgaard overtook Bach for second and then stole the lead from Kristensen in the following lap.
Gustav Birch, Nicolai Sylvest and Kasper H. Jensen were quickly moving up through the field, advancing to second, third and fourth at the end of the fourth lap.
In lap 6, Sylvest passed Birch for second and soon afterwards Birch crashed into the wall. Seconds later, Johnny Veljebo hit the tyre-stack at the chicane and stopped on the track, which prompted the safety car into action.
The neutralization lasted until the end of the race and so Carlsen took the chequered flag ahead of Sylvest, Jensen, Michael Markussen, Bach and Louise Frost, while Kristensen was excluded for unfair driving.
In the standings, Carlsen has moved into second place, 20 points behind Magnussen and three ahead of Jensen.
The third race will start at 15:00 CEST, with Jensen on pole and Elgaard alongside him.
