Diego Moran has completed a successful return to TCR Asia at Sepang International Circuit, where the Ecuadorian won both races in his Honda Civic Type R FL5 entered by the Delta Garage Racing Team.
Moran had topped the qualifying, beating the Eurasia Motorsport Z.Speed-run Hyundai Elantra N of Filipino driver Reignbert 'Red' Diwa by half-a-second.
At the start of the first race, Andy Liang Wenyao in the second Eurasia Hyundai had a slow reflex from P3 on the grid and dropped at the back, while Jonathan Xie Boyu and his Delta Garage Hyundai jumped into second behind Moran. However, during the first lap Xie was passed by Diwa for second and in lap 2 by the second Delta Garage Civic FL 5 of Hayden Haikal for third. Moran pulled away, while both Xie and Haikal retired at the end of lap 4; Moran won the race by 12 seconds ahead of Diwa, with Liang in third position.
Moran took an even more comfortable win in Race 2, with Liang his only competitor; the gap between then grew up to 28 seconds until Moran slowed down during the last lap to take the flag 4.8 seconds ahead of Liang.
Thanks to the absence of most of the drivers who had scored in the two previous events, Liang and Moran had climbed to fourth and sixth in the standings.
The next event is due to take place at Inje Speedium in South Korea on September 13/14.
