Diego Moran completes a hat-trick of TCR Asia wins at Inje
Diego Moran drove his DM23 Ecuador Racing Honda Civic FL5 to a hat trick of wins in TCR Asia, during the joint event with the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour at Inje Speedium.
In all three races, former TCR Japan champion Choi Jeong Weon took an early lead in his KMSA Motorsport-run Hyundai Elantra N, but every time, Moran managed to pass him and pull away.
Thanks to these three victories, Moran closed the gap in the standings to 22 points behind Chang.
The series will rejoin the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour in Zhuzhou on October 31/November 2 for the season finale.
Race 1 – In the first part of the race, Moran was chasing the early leader Choi until he eventually passed him in lap 8, building a healthy gap. Benny Santoso completed the podium in his Z.Speed Hyundai Elantra, while the points leader Sean Chang Chien Shang finished fourth in the RevX Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS.
Race 2 - Choi led at the start from Moran and Chang, however halfway through the race, Choi was involved in battles with World Tour drivers and Moran seized the opportunity pass him. The Ecuadorian driver went to win, while Choi managed to keep Chang at bay to finish second.
Race 3 – The script was repeated, as Choi made a good the start but lost the lead to Moran in lap 2. As the Ecuadorian pulled away, Choi once again successfully defended the second position, beating Chang in the sprint to the flag.
