It was a big weekend for TCR competition globally, with many series in action – with the most significant moves coming after the races of TCR China and TCR South America series in Ningbo and San Juan Villicum.
David Zhu Dai Wei’s victory for Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport in Race 1 at Ningbo has moved the Chinese driver into the top ten for the first time, just two places behind team-mate Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang. This also means there are three Chinese drivers in the top ten for the first time, with last year’s national champion Martin Cao Hong Wei in seventh position between Zhang and Zhu.
San Juan Villicum Race 1 winner Leonel Pernía is now ever so close to the top ten, with the Argentine touring car star moving up to 12th place, up 14 positions this week, and just over a point away from Kumho FIA TCR World Tour star Néstor Girolami.
The other race winner from the Ningbo TCR China weekend, last year’s TCR Asia champion Zhang Zhen Dong, also made a big stride in the classification this week and is up to 19th in the ranking, up 15 places.
