Robert Dahlgren won the second race of TCR Scandinavia at Skellefteå and retook the leadership in the standings with a margin of six points over Andreas Wernersson. The latter recovered from an early mistake to finish third in the race, behind Dahlgren’s teammate Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky who returned on the podium for the first time after her victory in the season’s opening race at Knutstorp.
Third in the points is Andreas Ahlberg, fourth in today’s Race 2, who has a gap of 18 points from the leader.
At the start, pole sitter Hannes Morin took the lead from Dahlgren, Wernersson, Ahlberg and Mattias Andersson who sprinted from the eighth spot of the grid. His was a too good start and, in fact, resulted in a drive through that dropped Andersson to the eighth and final place.
During lap 1, Wernersson missed a braking point, went off and rejoined at the back; a couple of turns later, Morin went wide and Dahlgren took the occasion to steal the lead from him.
From that moment on, Dahlgren pulled away, while Wernersson recovered after his mistake. Åhlin-Kottulinsky and Wernersson overtook Ahlberg, then Morin and began fighting for the second position. Eventually, Åhlin-Kottulinsky was able to keep Wernersson at bay until the end, while Ahlberg and Brink passed Morin to finish fourth and fifth respectively.
Rounds 7 and 8 of TCR Scandinavia will be held at Falkenberg on July 6/7.
