Marco Butti and Aurélien Comte make a one-off return to TCR Europe this weekend at Le Castellet’s Circuit Paul Ricard.
Both drivers have claimed brilliant results in the European series in recent years, Butti clinched the Rookie title in the last season, while Comte was crowned TCR Europe champion in 2017.
Butti will be at the wheel of a second Hyundai Elantra N entered by Target Competition alongside the one driven by Dušan Borković, the same cars he is racing in this year’s TCR Italy. So far in the season, Butti has won the Italian series’ opening race at Imola and is currently placed fifth in the standings; on top of this he took part in the Kumho TCR World Tour-TCR Italian Festival joint event at Vallelunga, driving for BRC Hyundai Squadra Corse and clinching the TCR Festival Trophy.
During the current season, Comte is also competing in TCR Italy at the wheel of CUPRA Leon Competición for SP Compétition. The French driver has claimed his maiden victory in the Italian series two weeks ago at Mugello, moving into the third position of the standings, only six points behind the leader Franco Girolami. For the TCR Europe event at Le Castellet, Sylvain Pussier’s SP Compétition has entered a pair of CUPRA cars with the experienced French GT driver Sacha Bottemanne making his TCR debut as Comte’s teammate.
