Butti and Comte are fastest in the second Practice

25 October 2024

Marco Butti and Aurélien Comte emerged as the fastest drivers in the second FIA Motorsport Games Touring Car Cup’s practice at Valencia, a session that most of the drivers used to work on the race set-up.

Czechia’s Adam Kout set the first mark with a lap of 1:41.359 in his Janík Motorsport Hyundai Elantra, but Comte quickly improved that time by nearly nine tenths to 1:40.431.

For most of the thirty-minute session, the Frenchman remained on top of the time sheet, while his competitors were trying to improve. Butti was the second driver to break into the 1:40 with a lap of 1:40.999, but he was soon ousted by Ignacio Montenegro (1:40.619) and Jenson Brickley (1:40.497).

Eventually, in the dying moments, Butti settled the matter beating Comte by 0.105 seconds, with Brickley third and Montenegro fourth. René Kircher was placed fifth with a lap of 1:40.991 that was a huge improvement of 1.4 seconds compared to his time in the previous session.

The Touring Car Cup will resume tomorrow morning at 09:55 (CEST) with the thirty-minute Qualifying that will determine the grid for the afternoon’s Qualifying Race.

Megan Tomlinson: “We have worked hard to put everything together in view of tomorrow’s qualifying. I’m so happy to be here, representing Canada and being the only woman in the Touring Car race!”

Zekai Özen: “I hadn’t driven on this track before, so practices were a learning curve for me. But everything went well and I’m enjoying being part of this great event, as the atmosphere is just great.”

Raphael Reis: “I think it was a good day. I used the first practise to get my bearings around the track, then I began to push a bit in the second session and improved by one second. The car looks good, and this make me confident for the Qualifying.”

Marco Butti: “Things begin to go the right way. In the first practice we had tried a set-up that didn’t work, so we have made several changes that have paid out. We have some margin to improve further, and I especially wish to thank Esteban Guerrieri for his precious advises.”
