Brickley clinches the title on equal points with Teddy Clairet

27 September 2025

Jenson Brickley of Monlau Motorsport emerged as the 2025 TCR Europe champion at the end of the final race of the season at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The last winner was Junesung Park who converted the pole position into his maiden victory driving his Hyundai Elantra N by Solite Indigo Racing. It was quite an eventful race until the last couple of laps, when Teddy Clairet lost the second place and Eric Gené slowed down to let his teammate Brickley moving up to fifth.

These changes meant that Brickley secured the title; although Clairet had scored the same number of points (208) and victories (2), the dead heat was decided by the second places: three for Brickley and one for Clairet.

The reversed grid featured Junesung Park and Teddy Clairet on the front row, while Victor Fernández and Jacopo Cimenes had been withdrawn after their cars had been damaged beyond repairs in the pile-up at the start of Saturday’s race.

Park led at the start from Teddy Clairet, while Gené sprinted from P6 on the grid and overtook Jimmy Clairet for third. Park began to pull away, while Teddy Clairet was closely followed by Gené, his brother Jimmy and Brickley. Soon, Race 1 winner Ruben Volt passed Brickley and Jimmy Clairet, advancing to fourth. Positions did not change until lap 9, when Volt overtook Gené for third and closed in on Teddy Clairet who would still be champion.

Everything changed in lap 12, when Volt passed Teddy Clairet for second. Immediately, Gené was ordered to slow and drop behind Jimmy Clairet and Brickley, which secured the title for his teammate. Gené was then demoted from 6th to 10th because of two five-second penalties and lost the third place in the championship to Jimmy Clairet.

After the scrutineering Volt was excluded because an analysis of the data showed that the start was not performed by the driver but automatically by the car’s ECU. This promoted the Clairets brothers and Brickley to second, third and fourth, although it did not affect the outcome of the championship.
