Although he just missed out on the TCR South America drivers’ title, Bernardo Llaver has ended his season with a top position in the KUMHO TCR World Ranking, breaking into the top ten for the first time, forcing out TCR Italy champion and fellow Argentine Franco Girolami.
The Toyota driver climbed three spots after his podium finish at Cascavel at the weekend, to maintain an impressive 20-race average.
His chief rival Ignacio Montenegro drove a conservative pair of races to ensure he won the title, and while that paid off in the drivers’ standings, it didn’t help his ranking position as he dropped one spot to 16th, now just one place ahead of Juan Ángel Rosso, who with two podiums, launched himself up 11 places to 17th.
Meanwhile, in Barcelona, the final round of the TCR Spain series saw some high rises in the ranking for some TCR newcomers who are yet to get to the 20-race result threshold. New champion Enric Bordás has moved up to 153rd position, a climb of 69 positions, while his title rival and Race 2 winner Álvaro Gárcia is now 174th, moving up the most positions of any driver this week, 74.
