TCR Panama’s second race meeting saw Emilio Valverde and Sebastian Ng taking one race win apiece Saturday at Autódromo Panamá, while Mario Bárcenas was the winner of the event with the highest score.
Despite he was eliminated in an incident at the start of the second race, Costa Rica’s Valverde retained the leadership in the standings, 13 points ahead of Bárcenas, while Ng’s maiden victory in the series propelled him to third, 29 points off the leader.
Valverde won the first race from the pole, beating Luis Ramírez by 2.5 seconds, with Bárcenas claiming the last podium spot. During the race, Gianni Alessandria’s Honda Civic FK7 and the CUPRA Leon Competición of Peruvian driver Rodrigo Pflucker were stopped by technical issues that sidelined them for the rest of the day.
An incident at the start of Race 2 eliminated the Hyundai Elantra cars of Valverde and Ramírez, opening the door to Ng who went to claim his maiden victory with an eight-second margin over Bárcenas. Behind them, Guatemalan newcomer Juan Diego Hernández completed the podium.
The championship will resume on 7/8 June for rounds 5 and 6.
