A record field of 32 cars to race at Misano

14 June 2018

The TCR Italy championship is heading for Misano Adriatico for its third event of the season, after it previously visited Imola and Le Castellet.
Luigi Ferrara is currently leading the standings in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta run by V-Action Racing, thanks to his double victory at Imola and despite he did not score in France. However, his gap has shrunk to 3.5 points ahead of the SEAT Motorsport Italia pairing of Salvatore Tavano and Matteo Greco who share a SEAT León. At Le Castellet, victories went to Pit Lane Competizioni's Andrea Larini (Cupra) and Nicola Baldan (Hyundai) who are now ranking third and fourth in the classification, 9 and 9.5 points from the leader respectively.
When the championship visited Misano last year, Baldan claimed his first win on his way to eventually clinch the Italian crown, while Eric Scalvini won the second race.
This weekend's event will feature a record field of 32 cars. Daniele Cappellari (Volkswagen Golf GTI), Nello Nataloni (Opel Astra) and Giuseppe Montalbano (SEAT León DSG) are due to make their first appearance in the current season, while Felix Wimmer (Wimmer Motorsport Cupra DSG) and Edoardo Cappello (Otto Motorsport Alfa Romeo Giulietta) are set for their debut in the championship.
