16 full-season entries for TCR Denmark

19 June 2020

The TCR Denmark championship that kicks off this weekend at Jyllandsringen for its maiden season has already attracted a respectable field.
Sixteen competitors have entered for the full season and others have planned to make occasional appearances.
The drivers represent the cream of Danish motorsport and include some super-experienced men as former Sportscar superstar Jan Magnussen (LM Racing, Volkswagen Golf GTI), Kim Lund Johansen (Madbull Racing, CUPRA) who has collected seven national titles in different one-make trophies and the 56-year old Michael Carlsen (Carlsen Motorsport, Peugeot 308) the winner of two Danish Touring Car championships in 2000 and 2001.
They will face a bunch of young lions led by former Formula Ford champions Nicolai Sylvest (LM Racing, Volkswagen Golf GTI) and Mikael Markussen (Markussen Racing, Peugeot 308). Other serious contenders are Kasper H. Jensen (Massive Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R) who dominated the Thundersport Championship in the latest four years, and Martin Andersen (Andersen Motorsport, Hyundai i30 N) the winner of four national titles between Touring Cars and Endurance. Jensen and Andersen had emerged as the fastest drivers in last week's official test.
Michelle Gatting, Denmark's fastest female racing driver who has been successful in the European Le Mans Series, will take part in the inaugural event at the wheel of a Peugeot 308 run by Peugeot Sport Denmark.
The championship will be run over six events, each of them featuring three races.
