Frédéric Vervisch takes over at the top after his home race

31 May 2023

Belgian driver Frédéric Vervisch has taken over as the new No.1 driver in the KUMHO TCR World Ranking after the Spa-Francorchamps race weekend, thanks mostly to his incredible 15th to fifth drive in Race 1.

With the ranking based on a driver’s last 20 results, Vervisch’s tally reaches back across the 2021 WTCR season, where he finished as runner-up in a competitive season, after he sat out most of the 2022 season before returning to TCR at the TCR Europe season finale at Barcelona.

Vervisch has some close competition however, with Yann Ehrlacher racking up an incredible 21 points with his win and fifth place at the weekend and moving up to second place, just two points behind, with Mikel Azcona slipping from first to third after a tough weekend in Belgium for the Hyundai driver.

It was a big weekend as well for Tom Coronel and Norbert Michelisz, who’ve now moved up to fifth and sixth in the ranking.
